Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing the data from the pie charts regarding sodium, saturated fat, and added sugars across different meals. However, the information is presented in a very fragmented and minimally developed way. While you mention several data points, such as dinner having 43 percent sodium and 37 percent saturated fat, the overall picture lacks a clear overview and accurate synthesis of the main features. The ideas are limited and under-developed, meaning the task is only partially addressed. To move up, you need to provide a clear overview outlining the main trends and select and report key comparisons accurately without misinterpreting the data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response shows some organization with attempts at paragraphing, such as dividing the introduction, body details, and concluding points. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing links like 'Overall, dinner as the highest percentage in usa, therefor lunch is avrage percentage'. Cohesive devices are often inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive. Pronoun referencing is also weak, making it difficult to follow which nutrient or meal is being discussed. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic and that ideas are linked logically and smoothly using appropriate cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and spelling errors that strain the reader, such as 'thhe', 'suger', 'Inconstrat', and 'precentage'. The range of vocabulary is limited to simple terms directly lifted or approximated from the prompt, and attempts at less common words result in inaccuracies like 'avrage percentage' and 'demanding meal'. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider and more accurate range of vocabulary related to data reporting, and pay close attention to correct spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are frequent mistakes with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and missing prepositions or articles, such as 'dinner as the highest percentage', 'peoples are most demanding meal', and 'lunch use in USA'. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and spacing issues. To improve this criterion, focus on constructing grammatically complete sentences with correct verb tenses and agreement, and reduce the frequency of basic structural errors.
