Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the three charts and making relevant comparisons, which meets the requirements for the higher band, though it shows some characteristics of the lower band as well. You successfully identified that dinner accounted for the highest proportions in most categories and noted the key figures for each meal type. However, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 142 words, falling slightly short of the 150-word minimum. Furthermore, the opening sentence includes some slightly imprecise interpretation by adding commentary about being 'harmful for body,' and some data points could have been more fully extended to reach the next band entirely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into an introduction, an overview, and separate body paragraphs detailing the specific nutrients. You used some cohesive devices and referencing adequately, such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', 'Regarding sodium', and 'As for added sugar', which helps guide the reader through the data. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or slightly faulty, such as in the sentence 'dinner making up 37% ; Meanwhile, lunch shows the 26%', where punctuation is incorrect. Paragraphing is present and generally logical, but paragraph transitions could be smoother and more sophisticated to fully achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use a range of appropriate terms such as 'proportion', 'ratio', 'contributes', and 'figure'. However, there are noticeable lexical and collocational inaccuracies that place this criterion firmly at the current band. Examples include 'consumed in large amount' instead of amounts, 'dinner accounted the highest proportion in sodium' missing the preposition 'for', and awkward phrasing such as 'ratio in contrast, 16% of breakfast seen'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but word choice and collocation issues occasionally impede precise communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over basic grammatical structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('in USA'), subject-verb agreement issues ('snacks has', 'breakfast has'), incorrect prepositional patterns ('largest percentage as compare to'), and run-on structures or punctuation faults (e.g., semicolons used incorrectly with commas). These errors mean that while communication is rarely completely impeded, error-free sentences are not frequent enough to attain a higher band.
