Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important features, including dinner as the largest source of sodium and saturated fat, and snacks as the largest source of added sugar. Most figures you report are accurate, such as sodium at 43% for dinner and added sugar at 42% for snacks. However, the overview is incomplete and awkwardly expressed, and one figure is incorrect: breakfast contributes 16% of saturated fat, not 21%. The phrase “all of other proportions is the highest ratio” also makes the comparison unclear. To strengthen the report, give a concise overview of the main contrasts across all three nutrients, then report the figures accurately and explain the comparisons clearly rather than listing them with unclear commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an overall structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the nutrient charts. This helps readers follow the broad topic. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to track, and linking expressions are repetitive or used in ways that do not show the intended relationship. For example, “Therefore” and “Moreover” repeatedly introduce figures without explaining how they connect, while “on the other hand” does not establish a clear contrast in the overview. The sentence about saturated fat also moves between dinner, other proportions, snacks, and breakfast without a clear sequence. Organise each paragraph around a direct comparison, and use fewer, more precise transitions and clear references to the meal categories.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “share,” “figure,” and “largest,” and the reader can generally understand which nutrient and meal you are discussing. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “figure,” “ratio,” and “proportion,” and several combinations are unnatural or unclear, such as “the most significant proportions is found of sodium” and “the lunch share information ratio.” These choices sometimes make the comparisons harder to interpret. Aim for more precise, natural reporting language, such as “accounted for,” “made up,” or “the highest percentage,” while avoiding repeated synonyms that do not fit the sentence. Check collocations as well as meaning when choosing alternatives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to use longer sentences and linking clauses, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “the most significant proportions is found” has subject–verb agreement and sentence-structure problems, while “the sodium proportion lunch 29%” is missing a verb. In “all of other proportions is,” the article and agreement are incorrect, and several sentences lack punctuation or are joined awkwardly. The response relies heavily on simple statements and fragments rather than showing a controlled range of sentence forms. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, accurate agreement, and punctuation; then combine related figures using a clear comparative structure, such as “Dinner accounted for 43%, compared with 29% for lunch.”
