Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify dinner as the highest meal category for sodium, and your comparisons for lunch and dinner sodium versus saturated fat are broadly accurate. However, the overview is incomplete and partly misleading: snacks are not the lowest category for saturated fat (breakfast is 16%, compared with 21% for snacks), and the response omits added sugar entirely, including its high 42% share in snacks. Several comparisons also mix nutrient categories without clearly explaining what the figures represent. The response is 97 words, below the required 150, and the 12 words copied from the prompt are not counted. To improve, include all three nutrients, give a clear overview of their main patterns, and support it with accurate, relevant comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate comments on meal categories. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Talking about breakfast” and “As for dinner” signal a change of focus. However, the progression is limited because the body compares sodium with saturated fat meal by meal, then stops without covering added sugar. Linking expressions such as “compared to” and “as opposed to” are repeated and do not always make the comparison easy to interpret. Grouping the information by nutrient, or highlighting the contrasting peaks for dinner and snacks, would create a clearer progression. Check spacing around punctuation as well, since inconsistent spacing interrupts the presentation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable set of chart-related terms, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “figure,” and “amount,” and comparison phrases such as “as against” show an attempt to vary expression. The meaning is generally understandable. However, some choices are imprecise or awkward: “three sorts of nutrients” is less suitable than “three types of nutrients,” and “the number is 29% in sodium” does not naturally describe a percentage. “The figure for dinner” is also vague unless you specify the nutrient. There is a spelling error in “higest,” and “Talking about” is informal for an academic report. Use precise terms such as “share,” “accounted for,” and “proportion of sodium” consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

Your response includes both simple statements and some comparative structures, for example, “The percentage of sodium is 14% in snacks compared to 21% in saturated fat.” Most sentences can be understood, and the basic present tense is appropriate for describing chart data. However, sentence patterns are repetitive, and several grammatical details need attention. In “snacks has the lowest,” the plural subject requires “have”; “while snacks has” also needs a clearer singular or plural construction. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, as in “breakfast ,it” and “fat .” The comparisons would be clearer with complete parallel structures, such as “Sodium accounts for 14% at breakfast, compared with 16% for saturated fat.”
