Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You report the figures for all three nutrients accurately, including the key peaks: sodium and saturated fat are highest at dinner, while added sugar is highest in snacks. You also note the equal breakfast figures for saturated fat and added sugar. These details address the task and show a generally sound understanding of the charts. However, the overview is not fully precise: the claim that dinner is the main meal for all three nutrients conflicts with the snack peak for added sugar. The statement that snacks rank second overall is also unclear because the ranking differs by nutrient. Make the overview explicitly compare the contrasting patterns, then use selected figures to support it rather than repeating every category in sequence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable sequence, moving through sodium, saturated fat and added sugar before giving some overall comparisons. Connectors such as “first,” “after that” and “finally” help signal this order. However, the progression is mechanical and the information is not clearly divided into an introduction, overview and supporting details. The final paragraph repeats earlier points, and “the snacks come second … followed by the lunch” is difficult to interpret because the ranking is not consistent across all nutrients. Group the main trends in a concise overview, then organise the figures into logical comparisons. Use linking phrases to show relationships, not simply to announce the next chart.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average percentage,” “intake” and “most,” and the nutrient names make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as “main percent usage,” “most percent” and “the main meal of intake the all three nutrients.” Repetition of “we find” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors in “suger” and “nutruents” are noticeable, while inconsistent capitalisation of nutrient names affects presentation. Choose standard terms such as “proportion,” “accounted for” and “highest share,” and check spelling carefully. More precise collocations would make the comparisons easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the figures using mostly simple sentence patterns, and the meaning is generally recoverable. There are attempts to combine ideas, for example with “while” and “furthermore,” but sentence control is uneven. The opening “first we find that” lacks appropriate capitalisation, and the long strings of figures joined by commas create run-on sentences. In “the dinner is consider the main meal,” the verb form is incorrect; “dinner is considered” would be grammatical, though “dinner has the highest proportions” is more suitable here. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Use full stops to separate comparisons and practise a mix of accurate simple and compound sentences.
