Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main pattern that dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead in added sugar, and several figures are reported accurately, including the breakfast values and lunch values. However, the response only partially covers the chart: it stops before giving dinner’s figures, and the comparison that snack sugar is “doubled” compared with saturated fat is not a clear or relevant comparison across meal categories. The overview is useful but brief, and the body does not select and develop enough key comparisons. The response is also 37 words below the required minimum, which contributes to the limited coverage. Include the dinner percentages and compare the highest and lowest meal shares for each nutrient.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail sections. This helps the reader distinguish the general trends from some specific figures. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “Further data reveals” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is uneven because the final sentence is unfinished, leaving the dinner data unexplained after dinner has been highlighted in the overview. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly “In addition” before the snack comparison. Improve the sequence by grouping information by nutrient or meal, completing each comparison, and using linking phrases only when they express the relationship between the figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average percentage,” “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar,” and “identical,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “Further data reveals.” However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “data has been calibrated” is not an appropriate description of the chart, “maximum sugar was added in snacks meal” is awkward, and “higly” is misspelled. “Propotion” and the repeated “sugars” in the introduction also show limited control. Aim for concise, accurate phrases such as “accounted for,” “the highest proportion,” and “the figures show,” and check spelling and singular/plural forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes mostly simple sentence patterns and attempts a few longer structures, for example, “In breakfast, saturated fat and added sugar was identical with 16%.” However, errors in agreement and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some statements awkward or difficult to follow. In that example, the plural subject requires “were,” and the comparison should be expressed with “at 16%.” The opening sentence also has a subject–verb agreement error: “charts compares” should be “charts compare.” The final sentence, “Additionally, sodium higly added in dinner,” is incomplete and lacks a clear verb structure. Practise accurate comparative sentences and ensure every sentence has a complete subject and verb before adding more complex clauses.
