Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You report the main patterns accurately: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar; you also include the key figures and note the equal sodium proportions for breakfast and snacks. This addresses the task, although the overview is brief and the final conclusion largely repeats it rather than adding a useful comparison. The claim that breakfast has the lowest proportion for all three nutrients is not fully accurate, since snacks have less sodium than breakfast only by being equal, and breakfast and snacks are both 14%; more precisely, breakfast is lowest for saturated fat and added sugar. The response is also 8 words below the 150-word minimum, which limits its development. A fuller overview and a little more precise comparison would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph reporting the figures, and a concluding sentence. Grouping the data by nutrient also makes the comparisons easy to locate. However, progression is weakened by the conclusion repeating the overview, and some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “following by lunch” and the abrupt “For sugar”. The overview and conclusion could be combined into a concise summary, while the body could be organised into two clear comparisons: sodium with saturated fat, then added sugar. Use linking phrases to show contrasts and rankings, and punctuate them consistently so the reader can follow the relationships without having to infer them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion”, “contributor”, “highest” and “lowest”, and the nutrient names are generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which makes parts of the report difficult to read: “snakes” appears to mean “snacks”, “sugar uses the most” is not a natural way to describe the data, and “Favour of sodium” does not introduce a comparison clearly. There is also repetition of “highest” and “proportion”. Aim for precise reporting verbs and phrases such as “accounted for”, “represented” and “the largest share”. Check spelling carefully and use consistent terms for meals and nutrients; this will make the vocabulary more accurate and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the intended meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “sodium and Saturated fats mostly used in dinner” lacks a suitable verb construction, while “snacks is the main” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “For saturated fat, Highest is dinner” is also incomplete as written. Several sentences run together without spaces or appropriate punctuation, as in “14%.For” and “asDinner”. Practise complete comparative sentences, for example, “Dinner accounted for the largest share of sodium, at 43%.” More accurate sentence boundaries and a wider range of controlled structures would improve clarity.
