Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 4.5)

Introduction:

the provided pie chat illustrates fluctuations in average percentages of sodium, saturated fact and added sugars in typical meals consumed through out USA concentrating primarily on breakfast, dinner, lunch and snackes it is structued to designe how the data evolved chronologically.

Overview:

Broadly speaking, saturated fact followed a distenct dropped trajectory where as sodium headed in reverse direction the most straking pattern is that while emission dropped significantly over time saturated fat experienced steady increases converging near same level by USA

Body detail:

In specific term, sodium commenced at 43% in USA and dropped at 37% by USA saturated fat remained relatively stable initaily around 37% before experienceing sharp rise after saturated fact.the saturated fat dinner and lunch is 37% and 26% while it wase increase at 43% and 29% in sodium this is two main changes in this saction.

Conculsion:

Whilemeans, the breakfast and snacks are ratio peaike but at the sodium there ratio were sharply dropped significantly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response attempts an overview and refers to several chart figures, but it does not accurately identify the meal categories or the main patterns. The charts compare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, not changes “chronologically” or “over time”; consequently, claims that sodium “dropped” and saturated fat “experienced steady increases” are unsupported. The figures 43% and 37% are assigned to the wrong nutrients and described as values “in USA,” rather than dinner shares. Some correct data appear later—saturated fat at dinner and lunch is 37% and 26%, and sodium is 43% and 29%—but the explanation is difficult to follow and key contrasts, especially added sugar peaking in snacks at 42%, are omitted. Focus on accurate category-by-category comparisons and a clear overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, overview, body detail and conclusion, and it uses signposting such as “Broadly speaking” and “In specific term.” This gives the reader some indication of the intended stages. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the overview describes trends over time, while the body shifts between sodium and saturated fat without a consistent comparison, and the conclusion introduces an unclear point about breakfast and snacks. Linking phrases such as “where as” and “whilemeans” do not establish clear relationships, and references such as “this section” are vague. Organise the body by meal or nutrient and use straightforward comparisons to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to use task-related vocabulary, including “average percentages,” “trajectory,” “stable” and “increases,” as well as comparison language. However, inaccurate word choice and spelling frequently obscure the intended meaning: “pie chat,” “saturated fact,” “snackes,” “distenct dropped trajectory” and “ratio peaike” are examples. Some expressions are also unsuitable for describing this chart: “evolved chronologically” and “emission” suggest a time series or environmental data, whereas the visual compares meal categories. The vocabulary range is therefore evident in places but not controlled consistently enough for precise reporting. Use accurate chart terms such as “share,” “proportion,” “highest” and “lowest,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both longer sentences and shorter statements, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors often make relationships between figures difficult to understand. For example, “sodium commenced at 43% in USA and dropped at 37% by USA” has an unclear subject and incorrect preposition pattern, while “the saturated fat dinner and lunch is 37% and 26%” has problems with article use, word order and agreement. Several sentences also lack clear punctuation or contain run-on structures, particularly the overview and body detail. These issues limit the effectiveness of the attempted complex forms. Build accurate simple comparison sentences first, then add clauses with clear subjects and correct verb forms; use full stops to separate distinct points.
