Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three nutrients and report several relevant figures, including dinner’s 43% for sodium and 37% for saturated fat, and snacks’ 42% for added sugar. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: you say breakfast is the lowest for saturated fat, although snacks are 21% and breakfast is 16%, and the sentence about sodium mixes up dinner and breakfast. The later claim that saturated fat is 16% at dinner also misreports the chart; it is 37%, while breakfast is 16%. These errors weaken the comparison of the main features, and some statements about what people “prefer” go beyond what the percentages show. A clearer, accurate overview and more carefully selected comparisons would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an opening, an overview, and a further paragraph of figures, so there is some basic organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview and detail paragraph repeat information without establishing a clear pattern. For example, the overview gives dinner figures, then the next paragraph repeats them before moving between meals and nutrients. Linking phrases such as “By following this” do not clearly show the relationship between the information, and punctuation spacing also makes some transitions abrupt. Organise the details by nutrient or by meal, and use simple, precise links to guide the reader. This would create a clearer progression rather than a sequence of partly repeated figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” and “represented,” and the reader can generally understand which nutrients and meals you mean. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “the largest proportion of dinner is in sodium” and “people … prefer to eat dinner in sodium.” These expressions make the comparisons less natural and can obscure the intended meaning. There are also spelling errors, including “wich” and “inviduals,” and repeated use of “contain” and “percentage.” Choose vocabulary that describes chart data directly—for example, “the share of sodium consumed at dinner”—and check spelling and collocations to improve precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “which might be unhealthy” and “while added sugar…”. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty or difficult to interpret. For instance, “Mostly people, does not prefer” has incorrect word order and subject–verb agreement, while “the least percentage of breakfast wich is made up 16%” lacks a clear grammatical connection between the ideas. In “the proportion of snacks is 42%, lunch contain 19%,” the verb does not agree with its subject. Commas also interrupt sentences unnecessarily, as in “It is clear that, many individuals…”. Practise accurate sentence patterns for comparing figures, and check agreement, clause structure, and punctuation.
