Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. You also include several accurate figures, such as 43% and 37% at dinner and 42% for added sugar in snacks. However, the comparison is incomplete: the claim that breakfast is often the lowest is not true for sodium, where lunch is higher than breakfast but snacks share the lowest value; and the statement that the remaining sodium and saturated-fat figures differ by only 2–3% is unclear and inaccurate as a general comparison. The response also omits useful figures for lunch and gives little detail on added sugar. It is 8 words below the required minimum. Develop the comparisons more fully and report the key values accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. The overview usefully groups dinner’s sodium and saturated-fat peaks against the snack peak for added sugar, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “In comparison” help signal relationships. However, the progression within the detail paragraphs is not always clear: “The least amounts for snacks” is difficult to connect to the preceding figures, and “Remaining parts’ difference is only 2-3%” does not specify which meals or nutrients are being compared. The final paragraph is also very brief. Use clearer references and organise each set of figures so the reader can follow the comparisons without having to infer them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “accounts for” and “occupying,” and the nutrient names are generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning awkward: “average proportion of consuming foods” does not describe the chart clearly, while “take most portion” and “contained more in snacks” are unnatural. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “soduim,” “respecetively” and “ocmpared.” Aim for precise, conventional language for describing data, such as “share,” “accounted for” and “the highest proportion,” and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview contrast beginning “while added sugar…” and the sentence comparing dinner figures. The main ideas are usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “if it overdozed” has an incorrect verb form and unclear reference, and “Added sugar a little different” is missing a finite verb. In “The least amounts for snacks with 14% and 21%,” the sentence is also incomplete, while “proportion … almost the same” needs an appropriate verb form. These errors make parts of the response less fluent, although the overall meaning can generally be recovered. Practise complete sentences and check subject–verb structure, articles and verb forms.
