Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks account for the most added sugar, and breakfast is generally low. The figures you report for dinner and lunch are correct, as are the key added-sugar comparisons. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant supporting detail. However, the overview overgeneralises when it says all three nutrients are lower at breakfast than in other meals: breakfast and snacks are tied for the lowest sodium share, at 14%. The final comparison is also unclear about which meal has the lowest saturated-fat figure; it is breakfast at 16%, not snacks. More precise comparisons would make the main features fully clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about dinner, snacks and lunch. This helps the reader follow the broad comparisons, and paragraphing separates the overview from the data. However, progression is not consistently smooth: the final paragraph combines lunch figures with a separate comparison of the lowest values, making its focus less clear. Linking words such as “whereas” are used, but the contrast is not always expressed cleanly, and the sentence beginning “the least amount” is difficult to follow. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, dinner and snacks first, then breakfast and lunch—and use explicit comparisons to connect them.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “consumption,” “saturated fats,” “added sugar,” and “share,” so the chart remains understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive phrasing, such as “reaching up to 42%.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “consumed during dinner is the highest” and “involved in dinner” do not describe proportions naturally. Spelling errors such as “higest” and “saturaed” also reduce accuracy. Prefer precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “made up,” and “the highest proportion,” and check spelling and natural combinations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “whereas” and a sentence describing the lunch figures. The main information is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The given pie charts depicts” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “Sodium and saturated fats consumed during dinner is” lacks a clear verb construction and has agreement problems. The sentence beginning “Largest amount of added sugar” also needs an article, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops. Aim for complete, well-formed clauses, check subject–verb agreement, and use punctuation consistently; these corrections would make your comparisons easier to read.
