Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover all three nutrients and identify the main contrasts: sodium and saturated fat peak at dinner, while added sugar is highest in snacks. Most figures are reported accurately, including sodium at 43% for dinner and added sugar at 42% for snacks. The overview also gives the reader a useful summary of the broad pattern. However, the comparison that sodium and saturated fat are “least” at snacks and breakfast is imprecise: sodium is equally low at breakfast and snacks, while saturated fat is lowest at breakfast. The saturated-fat figures are otherwise included, but this section is less developed than the discussion of sodium and sugar. More precise comparisons across the three charts would make the key features clearer and more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the nutrient figures. This gives it an overall logical arrangement, and phrases such as “In contrast” help signal a change in pattern. However, progression is sometimes interrupted by sentence fragments and awkward transitions, for example “while, respectively least prefer snack and breakfast” and “The lunch represent for 29%. while…”. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly in the paragraph about sodium and sugar, making the comparisons harder to follow. Use one clear topic sentence for each nutrient and connect figures with straightforward comparison language. Check that each linking word introduces a complete, logically related sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “accounted,” “highest amount,” and “respectively,” and the reader can generally identify the nutrients and meals being compared. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “meal highly prefer at dinner” does not clearly express that the percentages are highest at dinner, and “the reachest amount of sugar available” is not a natural description of the data. Spelling errors such as “snacls,” “sugat,” and “dinnar” also reduce clarity. Build a small set of accurate reporting phrases—such as “accounted for,” “was highest in,” and “the lowest proportion”—and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: several attempted structures are faulty, as in “The pie charts illustrates” and “The lunch represent for 29%.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries; for example, “while” is repeatedly used after a full stop as though it began a complete sentence, and “which accounted by 43%” lacks the correct passive construction. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise accurate comparison patterns such as “Dinner accounted for 43%” and “the figure for lunch was 29%,” then check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
