Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify some important figures, including dinner as the highest meal for sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), and snacks as the highest for added sugar (42%). However, the overview is incomplete: it reports these values without clearly comparing the overall patterns, and the conclusion that breakfast has the least nutrients is too broad, since snacks are lowest for sodium and breakfast is lowest for saturated fat and added sugar. Several figures are omitted or confusingly presented, and the response is three words below the 150-word minimum; the 21 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. To improve, give a concise overview of the contrasting dinner and snack peaks, then report the key figures accurately and clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, overview, detail paragraphs and a conclusion, and the sequence of meal categories gives the reader some structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or placed together without clear relationships. For example, the second paragraph moves from lunch comparisons to a general statement about all meals, while the next paragraph combines several figures in a long, confusing sequence. Linking phrases such as “Compared with” and “In conclusion” are present, but they do not consistently clarify the comparisons. Use one paragraph for the main overview and separate detail paragraphs for the meal patterns, with each sentence making one clear comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses basic task-related vocabulary such as “average percentages,” “highest,” “lowest” and “compared with,” so the general subject can be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Nutrients” is repeatedly used where “proportion” or “percentage” is intended, and “kinda same nutrients” is informal and unclear for an academic report. There are also spelling errors, including “illsutrated,” “perccentage” and “snaks,” which reduce clarity. Aim for precise chart language and vary expressions for describing values and comparisons; for example, say that a meal “accounts for” a share or that a figure “is higher than” another.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, but sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, which sometimes makes the relationships between figures unclear. For instance, “In sodium and saturated fat both have kinda same nutrients in lunch” lacks a clear grammatical subject and verb pattern, while “it find 29%” has an incorrect verb form. Agreement and articles are also problematic in “average percent of sodium is about 43%” and “less nutrients find in breakfast.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly at the starts of paragraphs and around lists. Build accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses, such as “At lunch, sodium accounts for 29%, compared with 26% for saturated fat.”
