Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the main contrast correctly: sodium and saturated fat peak at dinner, while added sugar is highest in snacks. However, the response is far too brief to summarise the charts adequately and does not report any figures, so the comparisons remain general and unsupported. The claim that all three nutrients are at their minimum in breakfast is inaccurate: breakfast is tied with snacks for the lowest sodium share, and added sugar is lower at breakfast than at lunch or dinner, but not lower than every meal for all nutrients in the way stated. Include key percentages and compare the meal categories more precisely, while noting the 150-word minimum.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic, understandable structure: an introductory sentence is followed by an overview beginning with “Overall.” This helps the reader distinguish the topic from the main trends. However, there is no detailed body paragraph, and the ideas are not developed into a clear sequence of comparisons. The second sentence also combines several claims without showing how they relate to the chart data. To improve, organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs comparing the figures, using clear links such as “whereas” and “by contrast” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “average ratios,” “nutrients,” “consumption level,” and “minimum,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, several choices are inaccurate or awkward: “ratios” is less suitable than “percentages” for these pie-chart values, “suger” is misspelled, and “unsafe if intake soo much” does not express the intended meaning naturally. The vocabulary range is also limited, with no language for describing proportions or comparing specific meal categories. Use precise terms such as “accounted for,” “highest share,” and “lowest proportion,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response uses simple sentence forms that communicate the broad message, including “The pie charts illustrate…” and “All three nutrients are minimum in breakfast.” However, grammatical control is uneven. The opening clause “all can be unsafe if intake soo much” is incomplete and lacks a clear subject and verb pattern; a complete version would be “all of which can be unhealthy if consumed in excess.” In the overview, “consumption level … is high” does not agree naturally with the plural nutrient categories, and “while” is punctuated awkwardly. The sentence structures are repetitive, so practise accurate comparative forms and longer sentences that connect figures and contrasts.
