Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. You also include several relevant figures, such as sodium at 43% for dinner and 29% for lunch, and the 42% added-sugar share in snacks. However, the overview contains a significant inaccuracy: snacks are not the lowest meal for all three nutrients, since they have the highest added-sugar figure. The comparison that snacks and breakfast are both 14% applies only to sodium, and the final comparison of snack sugar with saturated fat is not clearly expressed. Cover all three nutrients accurately in the overview, then select the most important contrasts and report them precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. The use of “On the other hand” and “In terms of sodium” signals some relationships between ideas. However, progression is limited because the details are not grouped consistently by nutrient or meal, and the final paragraph moves between breakfast and snacks without a clear comparison framework. Several sentences are difficult to follow, particularly “USA consumed from breakfast by both saturated fat and added sugar was similar 16%.” Use a clearer sequence—for example, compare sodium and saturated fat first, then added sugar—and use linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant terms, including “percentage,” “sodium,” “saturated fat,” and “added sugar,” so the reader can identify the subject and many of the figures. However, the vocabulary range is limited, and repeated or inaccurate combinations such as “consumed from,” “produce snacks,” and “percentage of food consumed” make several comparisons unclear. “Consumer eaten dinner” also does not express the intended chart relationship naturally. Choose precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “made up,” or “the share in dinner,” and vary these appropriately. Check spelling as well: “wheras” and “sancks” are noticeable errors that reduce the accuracy of the presentation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use longer structures, including “while” clauses and comparisons, but many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between figures difficult to understand. For example, “It is clear that the highest percentage of food consumed from dinner by both sodium and saturated fat” lacks a complete main clause, while “USA consumed from lunch by saturated fat was 26%” has an unclear subject and verb pattern. Articles, agreement, and sentence construction also need attention. Build each comparison around a clear subject and verb, such as “Dinner accounted for 43% of sodium intake, compared with 29% at lunch.” More accurate simple sentences will help before adding complex clauses.
