Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main contrasts accurately: dinner has the highest shares of sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%), while snacks lead for added sugar (42%). You also compare lunch and breakfast and provide a clear overall summary, so the key features of the charts are covered. The response shows some of the stronger development expected above this level, particularly in explaining that snack sugar is nearly double dinner’s share. However, the opening is unclear and does not introduce the charts cleanly, and the final comment that the figures are “average of all in usa” adds little useful information. A more precise overview and a brief, direct introduction would make the report more complete and consistently clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally understandable progression: it first compares sodium and saturated fat, then turns to added sugar, and ends with an overall statement. The contrast marker “In contrast” and the comparison “while” help connect relevant information. However, the opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the final two short comments feel detached from the report rather than forming a purposeful conclusion. Some links are also mechanical, such as “The trend shifts dramatically,” while the relationship between the opening and the data is unclear. Organise the response into a concise introduction, an overview, and logically grouped detail paragraphs, and use clear references to the three nutrients to strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “largest shares,” “primary source,” “proportions,” and “contributes,” and these choices help communicate comparisons. There is some attempt at more precise language, such as “nearly double,” but control is uneven. “In this pie graph show” is not a natural way to introduce the visual, “when added sugar” is unclear, and “a 42% of the total intake” uses an awkward expression. “Hazardous” is also too strong for a chart that reports nutrient proportions rather than health outcomes. Aim for accurate collocations and neutral reporting language, such as “the charts compare” and “accounts for 42%.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and a longer sentence beginning “The trend shifts dramatically with added sugar.” The main data relationships are usually understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent: “In this pie graph show” lacks a correctly formed subject and verb, and the opening continues with an unclear clause (“and when added sugar so then check the graph”). There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary problems, including “43%and” and the lower-case sentence beginning “its all about.” The final sentence fragment, “and its average of all in usa,” is not integrated grammatically. Use complete, direct sentences and check articles, capitalization, punctuation, and clause structure.
