Student answer (Band 5.5)
Information about the average percentages in typical foods of 3 different types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much is delineated by the provided chart.
Overall, at the prima facie glance, it can be clearly seen that the sodium and saturated fat are covered most of percentage in the dinner and the added sugar is covered a lot of percentage in the snacks, whereas others percentage are divided in other three categories with small numbers as compare to above numbers.
Digging deeper into the chart, it can be obsereved that the percentage of sodium and saturated fat have the highest in the dinner, whereas the percentage of added sugar has the highest numbers in the snacks.
Scrutinizing deeper into the obtainable information, it can be visible that the numbers of sodium is identical in the snacks and in the breakfast with 14, while the percentage of added sugar are 3 times more than sodium in the snacks. But, the numbers of saturated fat and added sugar are simillar at 16 percent in the breakfast.
Hereby, I conclude my report.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: dinner has the largest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. You also include relevant comparisons, such as sodium being 14% in both breakfast and snacks and breakfast having 16% for both saturated fat and added sugar. However, the report is less complete than it could be: it gives few figures for the other meal categories and does not clearly compare the full distributions. The claim that snack added sugar is “3 times more than sodium” is imprecise; the figures are 42% and 14%, so it is three times as high. A fuller overview and a few more accurate comparisons would make the key features clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to supporting details. Paragraphing helps separate these functions, and linking expressions such as “Overall” and “But” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is weakened by repeating the same main point in the overview and the next paragraph, while the final paragraph introduces only a couple of comparisons before ending with “Hereby, I conclude my report.” Phrases such as “Digging deeper” and “Scrutinizing deeper” are repetitive and make the organisation feel mechanical. Group the key comparisons into a more purposeful sequence and use clear references to the meal categories and figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “delineated,” “prima facie,” and “Scrutinizing,” but several choices are unnatural or too elaborate for a concise chart report. For example, “covered most of percentage” and “obtainable information” obscure otherwise straightforward meaning, while “foods” is less accurate than “meals” in this context. There are also spelling errors, including “obsereved” and “simillar.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main comparisons, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Prefer familiar, accurate reporting language such as “accounted for,” “share,” and “the chart shows,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both longer sentences and simpler statements, including a contrast between the nutrient patterns and a sentence comparing breakfast figures. However, some grammatical errors make the relationships between ideas less clear. For example, “the sodium and saturated fat are covered most of percentage” has an awkward subject and incomplete construction; “the percentage of sodium and saturated fat have the highest” also has subject–verb agreement problems. In “the percentage of added sugar are,” the singular subject requires “is.” Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “others percentage.” Aim for direct sentence patterns such as “Dinner accounts for the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat,” then check agreement and articles in longer sentences.
