Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify some important overall patterns: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear. For sodium, breakfast and snacks are both 14%, but dinner is 43%; the statement that breakfast and dinner remain at 14% is incorrect. The saturated-fat figures are also not reported clearly, and the added-sugar account omits the highest value of 42% for snacks. The response therefore covers the charts only partially, with limited supporting detail. It is also eight words below the required minimum. To improve, give a concise overview and accurately compare the key highs and lows across all three nutrients.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs for an introduction, an overview and details, so there is some attempt to organise the information. It also uses basic linking words such as “Additionally,” “However” and “Furthermore.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the charts are referred to as “figures” without consistently naming the nutrient, and several sentences contain unclear or incomplete ideas. For example, “the first figure the number of breakfast and dinner it remained stable 14%” does not make the comparison understandable. The final paragraph also ends abruptly. Organise the body around each nutrient, use clear topic sentences, and connect each figure to its meal category.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar,” “percentage” and “highest,” which shows awareness of the chart topic. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make key information harder to understand: “persantage,” “brekfast,” “din nr” and “sanak” appear in place of the intended words. Some expressions are also unnatural or unclear, such as “overfull” and “highest in couple of pie chart.” Use standard chart language and check spelling carefully. Phrases such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion” and “compared with” would help you describe the data more precisely and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to form longer sentences and use comparison, but grammatical control is limited, and errors frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the percentage of dinner that highest” lacks a complete grammatical structure, while “the number of percentage is 19%” uses an incorrect sentence pattern. Verb forms and agreement are also problematic in “it remained stable” and “it is increase,” and punctuation is inconsistent, with several sentences joined by full stops or commas inappropriately. Build accurate simple sentences first, such as “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium,” then practise combining them with clauses using “while” or “whereas.” Check articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries during revision.
