Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main contrast accurately: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. Most figures you report also match the chart, including sodium at 43% for dinner and 29% for lunch, and added sugar at 42% for snacks. However, the overview is unclear in places, and the claim that saturated fat and added sugar have the same breakfast percentage is not quite accurate: the chart gives 16% for both, so this comparison is correct, but it needs clearer wording. The response contains 139 words, below the 150-word minimum; 21 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop the overview and comparisons more fully, including the shared lowest sodium figures for breakfast and snacks.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group sodium with saturated fat and then discuss added sugar. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within sentences is often difficult to follow, as in “sodium have dinner was highest around 43% compare to lunch meal at 29%.” Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “After that,” and “Although” are used, but some do not express the relationship clearly; “Although” introduces no contrasting clause. Repeated “after that” also makes the sequence mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences and connect comparisons directly, while keeping each paragraph focused on a coherent set of chart features.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “average percentages,” “highest proportion,” “compare,” and “lowest,” so the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated or used unnaturally, especially “proportion cover” and “have dinner.” Some word choices make the data description harder to interpret, and spelling errors such as “arount” and “break fast” reduce accuracy. Aim for standard collocations used in data reporting, such as “accounted for,” “stood at,” and “the largest share.” Varying these expressions and checking spelling would make the description more precise and easier to read without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the response is divided into sentences rather than presented as a list. However, grammatical control is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences difficult to process. Examples include “The three pie chart illustrates,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “sodium have dinner was highest,” which has an unclear sentence structure and incorrect verb form. The overview also contains agreement problems in “added sugar have snacks was highest.” Practise reliable patterns such as “Dinner accounted for 43% of sodium” and “the figure for snacks was 14%.” More accurate subject–verb agreement and complete comparison clauses should be the priority.
