Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three nutrients and report several relevant figures, including sodium at 14% for breakfast and snacks and 43% at dinner, as well as the matching 16% breakfast figures for saturated fat and added sugar. However, some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: “a 15% high ratio of afternoon meal” does not identify the correct meal or explain the comparison, and the overview says dinner has the highest share for all three nutrients, although added sugar peaks in snacks at 42%. The claim that breakfast has the minimum ratio is also too broad, since snacks are equally low for sodium. To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of the contrasting peaks—dinner for sodium and saturated fat, snacks for added sugar—and compare the meal figures accurately and explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins by introducing the charts, discusses sodium, then the other nutrients, and ends with an overall statement. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Further,” and “Lastly” show an attempt to connect points. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and these transitions are repetitive rather than showing precise relationships. Phrases such as “in another meal” and “the ratio of another meals” make it difficult to tell which meal is being discussed, while the overview appears only at the end and conflicts with the details. Grouping the information by the main patterns, and using clear references such as “dinner” and “snacks” each time, would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “average percentages,” “consumed,” and “saturated fat,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. “Vivid from the graph” is not a natural way to introduce a finding, “afternoon meal” is imprecise, and repeated use of “ratio” does not accurately describe the percentages shown. There are also spelling and form slips, such as “iin” and “Further more.” Aim for precise terms such as “share,” “proportion,” and “accounted for,” and name the meal rather than using vague phrases like “another meal.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is uneven, and errors frequently make the comparisons harder to understand. For example, “the average percentages of sodium, in breakfast and snacks both are same 14%” has an awkward sentence structure and missing grammatical elements. The final overview, “The highest percentage … in dinner … and the minimum ratio of breakfast,” is not a complete, well-formed comparison. Capitalisation after commas and at the start of sentences is also inconsistent. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences, for example, “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium,” and use parallel structures when comparing meals. More accurate sentence patterns would help your figures communicate the intended meaning.
