Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the three nutrients and report several meal percentages, including dinner sodium at 43%, dinner saturated fat at 37%, and snack added sugar at 42%. However, the overview is unclear and inaccurate: “sodium consumed in highest rank” does not capture that dinner is highest for sodium and saturated fat, while snacks are highest for added sugar. There is also a factual error: lunch sodium is 29%, not 23%. The response is only 129 words, below the 150-word minimum, which limits how fully you can summarise and compare the data. Add a clear overview and accurately compare the main highs and lows across all three charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and details about each nutrient. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is grouped. However, progression is limited, and the repeated pattern “in dinner… in lunch… in breakfast…” makes the report read like a list rather than a comparison. “On the other hand” does not signal a clear contrast here, since the final paragraph simply continues reporting figures. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs and connect related features—for example, compare dinner’s high sodium and saturated fat with snacks’ high added sugar. Clearer referencing and more accurate linking would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary such as “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar,” “percentage,” and “consumed,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “good ratio,” “highest rank,” and “its ratio.” Spelling errors such as “saturted” and “commance” also reduce clarity. Repeating “they consumed” and “they took” makes the description less precise. For chart reporting, use a small set of accurate terms consistently, such as “accounted for,” “stood at,” “proportion,” and “the highest share.” Check spelling and choose collocations that describe percentages naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences use simple reporting patterns, and the reader can usually identify which nutrient and meal you mean. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. For example, “The pie charts below illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “sodium in dinner 43%” lacks a complete grammatical structure. The overview sentence, “sodium consumed in highest rank,” is also missing necessary words and a clear verb pattern. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, as in “Overall, sodium” and “37%while.” Practise complete comparison sentences, such as “Sodium accounted for 43% at dinner, compared with 29% at lunch,” and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
