Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the chart’s main patterns and give a clear overview: dinner has the highest shares of sodium and saturated fat, while snacks lead for added sugar. Most figures are reported accurately, including dinner’s 43% sodium and 37% saturated fat, and snacks’ 42% added sugar. This meets the task well and shows some selection and comparison of key features. However, one important detail is inaccurate: breakfast and snacks for sodium are both 14%, not 16%. The overview could also be more precise than saying the first two nutrients have “similar proportions,” since their meal-by-meal distributions differ somewhat. To strengthen the response further, ensure every figure is checked and compare the distributions more explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for sodium and saturated fat, then added sugar. This makes the information easy to follow, and transitions such as “On the other hand” help signal a change in focus. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “Two nutrients, sodium and saturated fat shows similar percentages” introduces a paragraph that then treats each nutrient separately, while “The third least proportion for lunch” is difficult to interpret. Repeated use of “In” and “while” also makes the comparisons feel formulaic. Grouping the figures by meal or using clearer comparison phrases would improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “percentage,” “contribution,” and “proportion,” so the meaning is generally clear. There is also some attempt to vary expressions rather than repeat only “was.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “presents the differences,” “makeup only 29%,” and “shows more amount.” “Consumed” is also not the best fit for describing a chart’s percentages. The spelling error “exsess” and repeated reliance on “amount” reduce precision. Aim for standard data-reporting collocations and use “share,” “figure,” or “proportion” accurately. This would make the vocabulary more controlled and appropriate to an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “while” and “however,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors are present, particularly with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, “Dinner have highest percentage” should use a singular verb and an article, and “sodium and saturated fat contributes” needs a plural verb. In “breakfast and snacks presents similar amount,” both the verb form and the noun phrase need correction. Articles are also missing in phrases such as “Dinner accounted for 43%.” Review agreement, articles, and plural forms, then check each sentence for a complete, natural structure. More accurate control of these basics would support your attempts at varied sentences.
