Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the chart’s three nutrients and give a clear overview of the main pattern: dinner has the highest sodium and saturated-fat shares, while snacks lead for added sugar. The figures you report for sodium and saturated fat are accurate, and you correctly identify breakfast as low. However, the overview could compare the full set of meals more precisely: breakfast and snacks tie for the lowest sodium share, and breakfast is not the lowest for every nutrient because snacks have less saturated fat (21% versus 16%? Actually breakfast is lower) — rather, breakfast is lowest there too. The added-sugar sequence is stated without figures for dinner and lunch, and “42% ... in snacks only” is imprecise because all meals contain added sugar. A fuller, data-led comparison would make the report more complete and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details and a concluding statement. The main comparisons are generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “followed by” help signal ranking. This supports a coherent overall arrangement. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear: “Whereas” begins a fragment, and the final paragraph repeats the overview rather than adding a useful comparison. The detail paragraph would progress more clearly if it grouped the meal with the highest values and then compared the remaining meals, using consistent transitions. Punctuation spacing also makes some links harder to read, as in “USA,consumption” and “sodium, saturated fats.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fats,” “added sugars,” “consumption,” and “followed by,” so the chart’s subject is clear. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing proportions. “Highly present” and “contains more” are less suitable than language such as “accounted for the largest share” or “made up.” “42% ... are present in snacks only” also suggests exclusivity rather than a proportion. There are noticeable spelling and word-form problems, including “american,” “ids,” and “proved harmful,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise reporting verbs and collocations, and check spelling and capitalization carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including “Whereas, snacks contain more added sugar” and the concluding contrast beginning “while.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but some sentence structures and agreement patterns are inaccurate. “Whereas” is used as a sentence fragment, and “USA meals contains” has a subject–verb agreement error; “a typical american meal in USA” also needs more accurate article and noun phrasing. The sentence about added sugar lacks a clear comparison structure, while punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries are inconsistent. To improve, build complete sentences around contrast clauses, check singular and plural subjects, and use articles and capitalization consistently. These issues recur, though they do not generally prevent understanding.
