Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the three nutrients and report several relevant figures, including dinner’s 43% share of sodium, snacks’ 42% share of added sugar, and the meal breakdown for saturated fat. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: dinner does not decline across the meals, and snacks do not rise; these are category comparisons, not changes over time. Breakfast is not unchanged across all nutrients, since its shares are 14% for sodium and 16% for both other nutrients. Some comparisons are also imprecise, such as saying lunch “affected more” without stating its 29% sodium figure. A clearer overview of the highest and lowest meal shares, followed by accurate comparisons, would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the nutrient data. This makes the information broadly easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “To commence,” “Moreover,” and “Finally.” However, some links are mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. For example, “On the other hand” does not introduce a clear contrast, and “Following this” leaves the connection between sodium and saturated fat vague. The overview’s references to “periods” also disrupt the organisation because the charts compare meal types rather than time. Use more precise transitions and organise each paragraph around a clear comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar,” “ratio,” and “percentage,” so the reader can identify the subject of the report. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. “More sugar” is less precise than the chart’s “added sugar,” while “the high amount of nutrients are added” does not clearly describe a percentage share. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “fluctucation” and “notiveable,” and phrases such as “second highly use by Lunch” are difficult to interpret. Choose accurate chart-reporting expressions and check spelling carefully to improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” and the response is divided into complete paragraphs. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction sometimes make the data difficult to understand. For example, “the figure of dinner are decline” has problems with both agreement and verb form, while “the breakfast have lowest ratio” lacks correct agreement and article use. In “the second highly use by Lunch which affted more,” the clause structure is incomplete. Practise building clear comparison sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, such as “Dinner accounts for the largest share of sodium, at 43%.”
