Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three nutrients and compare meal categories, including several accurate figures: dinner accounts for 43% of sodium, while snacks contribute 42% of added sugar. You also note that breakfast is low across the charts. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “dinner is in high amount and snacks is in least amount in sodium” overlooks that snacks and breakfast are tied at 14% for sodium, and snacks are highest—not lowest—for added sugar. Some comparisons are reported without a clear overall summary of the main patterns. To strengthen the response, state the key contrasts directly: dinner leads in sodium and saturated fat, whereas snacks lead in added sugar.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate opening, overview and detail paragraphs, and it attempts to connect comparisons with words such as “Moreover” and “However.” These features give it some organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview repeats the introduction, and the details move between nutrients and meals without a consistent pattern. For example, “The pie chart demonstrate…” is followed by breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, but the comparisons are not grouped clearly. Repeated connectors do not always show the relationship between ideas, and the final sentence introduces a confusing conclusion. Organise the body by nutrient or meal category, and use clear references such as “By contrast” only when the comparison is accurate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “sodium,” “saturated fat,” “added sugar” and “portion,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning awkward: “the average of sodium,” “the percentage os lunch is increased,” and “the moral” are not suitable ways to describe chart data. There are also spelling errors such as “snaks” and “incriment,” alongside repeated use of “percentage” and “chart.” Use precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “represented” and “was highest,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can usually identify the figures being discussed. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For example, “The pie charts shows” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The portion of dinner is become incriment” has an incorrect verb construction. The opening fragment, “The pie charts shows that the average of sodium,” is also incomplete. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past or present reporting forms. Check agreement and sentence boundaries, especially when joining several comparisons.
