Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important figures accurately, including dinner as the highest source of sodium (43%) and snacks as the highest source of added sugar (42%). However, the overview says dinner has the highest proportion of every nutrient, which is incorrect because snacks lead for added sugar. The report also gives limited comparison across all three charts and does not clearly summarise the contrasting pattern between dinner’s sodium and saturated-fat peaks and snacks’ added-sugar peak. The response is 147 words, so it falls short of the required 150 words. Add a concise, accurate overview and develop the comparisons rather than repeating individual figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph reporting figures, and a concluding overview. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “Now looking after second diagram” signal a shift. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the figures are crowded into one long paragraph, and the final overview repeats an inaccurate claim instead of synthesising the main patterns. Linking words such as “while,” “additionally,” and “on the other hand” are sometimes awkward or do not clearly connect the comparisons. Use separate, logically grouped paragraphs and organise the details by nutrient or by the meals with the highest and lowest shares.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “average,” and “highest,” and the reader can generally identify the nutrients and meals being discussed. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to read, such as “illustraits,” “suger,” “containt,” and “respectivelly.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “higest proportion” and “looking after second diagram.” Aim for accurate, conventional language for describing charts, and check spelling carefully. For example, use “accounts for” or “represents” to introduce a percentage, and “the smallest share” rather than “least” when comparing values.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, but control is inconsistent and errors occur frequently. For example, “dinner containt higest proportion” lacks an appropriate verb form and article, while “least are snacks and breakfast 14% each” has an unclear sentence structure. The long sentence beginning “23% added sugar containt in dinner” also lacks a clear grammatical framework, making the comparisons hard to follow. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around commas and full stops. Build accurate sentences around a clear subject and verb—for example, “Dinner accounts for 43% of sodium”—then combine ideas with correctly formed clauses.
