Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the three nutrients and report some key figures, including the highest dinner shares for sodium (43%) and saturated fat (37%). However, the overview is incomplete and several comparisons are inaccurate. Breakfast is not the lowest meal for every nutrient: snacks also account for 14% of sodium, while added sugar peaks in snacks at 42%, not breakfast. The claim that sugar at breakfast is a “very healthy amount” is an unsupported judgement rather than a description of the chart. The response therefore covers the data only partially and leaves important features unclear. To improve, give a concise overview of the contrasting peaks—dinner for sodium and saturated fat, snacks for added sugar—and compare the meal figures accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction to a data paragraph and a concluding paragraph, and words such as “Moreover” and “To conclude” signal connections. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the second paragraph mixes an overview with selected figures, while the conclusion repeats claims about breakfast and adds an unsupported explanation. Some linking is mechanical, and “Where” begins a fragment rather than connecting a complete idea. Organise the report around the main patterns, then support them with comparisons, rather than repeating the same point. Clearer paragraph purposes and more precise links between contrasting figures would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “sodium,” “saturated fats,” “added sugars,” and “percentage,” so the reader can identify the subject of the charts. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a data report. “Unwholesome” and “very healthy amount” introduce judgement, while “dinner time” and “afternoon meal” are imprecise labels for the chart categories. Phrases such as “charts given info” also lack natural collocation. Aim for neutral reporting language such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” “highest share,” and “lowest figure.” Accurate, varied terms for describing proportions and comparisons would make the report clearer and more appropriate to the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in the opening and a contrast introduced by “because,” but control is inconsistent. Errors include “that all of which maybe be,” “There were sodium & saturated fat had,” and “People didn't consumed,” where clause structure or verb forms are faulty. “Where there were all types of nutrients had” is also not a complete, well-formed sentence. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building accurate simple comparison sentences first—for example, “Dinner accounted for 43% of sodium”—then combine them with controlled clauses such as “whereas snacks made up 42% of added sugar.”
