Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, a group of people believe that bad situation such as unsatisfactory job or shortage of money, should be accepted while others argue that, it is better to try and improve such situations. In my opinion, we should keep going and improve ourselves and find the better ways to overcome such situations.

Bad situations is really an awful thing such as not having a job with full satisfaction and shortage of money. This situation can lead to some difficulties such as financial problems and stressful life. Some people believe that we should accept the circumstances and rely on what they have. Additionally, they think that having a job even with low salary is better than having no job and if they don't have a job, they may face a lot of problems in their lives and without money, living a life is impossible. Therefore, some people do more than one job whether they are satified or not . For instance, people who do the job that they like perform better than those who don't like their job.

Another group of people argue that, they should try some other ways to improve their way of living instead of relying on that situation. Furthermore, mental satisfaction is really important in every situation and without this, they can't perform well on their jobs. If a person don't like a job and he does , he would not give his full attention. Instead he should do what he likes to do and he should not care about what kind of job he has.

In conclusion, some people think that shortage of money or unsatisfactory jobs should be accepted while others believe to try to improve such situations. In my opinion, we must try some other ways to overcome such situations and we should not do the unsatisfactory jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your position: the introduction supports trying to improve difficult circumstances, and the conclusion repeats this stance. The discussion of acceptance includes relevant points about financial security and the risks of having no job. However, the two sides are not developed evenly or clearly. The example about people doing more than one job does not fully explain why accepting an unsatisfactory situation is preferable, and the claim that people who like their jobs perform better is not clearly connected to that view. The improvement argument is also general, with little explanation of practical ways to change a situation. Develop each view with a clear reason and a directly relevant example, and make your final position more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the point about doing more than one job is followed by an example about job satisfaction without explaining their relationship. Some connections are also mechanical or imprecise, such as “Another group of people argue that, they should try some other ways.” Improve cohesion by making each paragraph follow a clear sequence—main idea, explanation, and supporting example—and use pronouns and linking phrases only when their references are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “shortage of money,” “financial problems,” “mental satisfaction,” and “circumstances.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “bad situations” and “some other ways.” There are also noticeable word-choice and collocation problems, such as “job with full satisfaction,” “rely on what they have,” and “improve their way of living,” which make some ideas less natural or clear. Spelling errors such as “satified” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for employment, financial hardship, and taking action, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses with “while,” “if,” and “without,” so there is some variety. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation. For example, “Bad situations is” should use a plural verb, while “If a person don't like a job” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The sentence “If a person don't like a job and he does” is also structurally unclear, and “Therefore” is joined to the preceding sentence without appropriate spacing or punctuation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause structures, then proofread sentence boundaries and commas. Greater control would make your reasoning easier to follow.
