Student answer (Band 5.5)

Improvement in life is essential because everything needs to be change with time. there is an ongoing debate between people some believe that it is better to accept a bad situation such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money, others argue that it is best to try and improve such conditions. i agree with the improvement of situations but sometime it is good to accept fate.

on the one hand, people believe that it is good to accept a bad situation because failure is a part of life. sometime people experience good situations or sometime the situations they never think about, it is essential to accept the fate to avoid stress.for example; a man have a job but he is not satisfied with his job, but he is earning which is giving him the shelter, food, clothes or other facilities so it is better to accept the situation for his own benefit.

on the other hand, improvement is essential because if we try to improve conditions we are not satisfied with then we can get more peaceful and better life. for example; a nurse is working in a small hospital from last six years, where is only few equipments or less technologies and now if she tried to get a better job in her area and she got a job in a hospital which have more technology and advanced machines so ultimately she gets both a better job and more salary. moreover she also gains the knowlegde about different equipments. so like that improvement may give you the new experience and more opportunities.

in conclusion, i believe that people should improve their worse situations for the more covienient and better life. but sometime it is good to accept the situations to avoid the mental and physical problems

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your position: you support improving difficult circumstances, while allowing that acceptance can sometimes be sensible. The examples of the dissatisfied worker and the nurse make the discussion relevant, and the nurse example shows possible benefits such as better pay and experience. However, the acceptance argument is developed mainly through one example and the general claim that failure is part of life; explain more clearly when accepting a situation is preferable and why. Your conclusion repeats your position but does not bring the two views together in much detail. To strengthen the response, develop each side with a clear reason and explanation, then make your final judgement more decisive. The response meets the stated length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “on the one hand,” “on the other hand,” and “in conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or abrupt. In the nurse example, several points are joined with “so” and “moreover,” making the explanation feel like a list rather than a developed chain of reasoning. Some references are also unclear, as in “the situations they never think about.” Use linking expressions more selectively, and make each paragraph move from its main claim to a reason, example, and explanation. Clearer sentence boundaries would also improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “unsatisfactory job,” “accept the fate,” “opportunities,” and “mental and physical problems.” These choices allow you to discuss both acceptance and improvement, and the examples include some useful topic-specific terms such as “advanced machines.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “situation,” “better,” and “improve.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “more peaceful and better life,” “less technologies,” and “more covienient.” Spelling errors such as “knowlegde” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for employment, financial hardship, and personal wellbeing, and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional reasoning such as “if we try to improve conditions … then we can get…” and a relative clause in “a hospital which have more technology.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur throughout. For example, “everything needs to be change” should use a passive form, while “a man have a job” and “a hospital which have” show subject–verb agreement problems. Several sentences begin with lowercase letters, and punctuation is often missing, as in “stress.for example.” Practise accurate sentence patterns first, especially subject–verb agreement and past or present forms, then use full stops and capital letters consistently.
