Student answer (Band 4.5)

Consiquently while the subject of topic can be debated, it is important we look into it's context. A bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money is an implication of lack of capacity to do a task and deliver as expected. It can be argued that unsatisfactory job is an attempt aimed at delivering a perfect job that failed. More so, shortage of money meaning inadequate fund is a different case to look at. Inadequate funds, can be caused by a varing degree of issues although inadequate funds are capable of resulting to poo job being done. The both situations and it's merit and demerit when compared side by side. The demerit of unimpressed job is that it kills trust in business and transaction. There are alot of demerit in unsatisfactory job such as ending the potential of retaining a client, it kills the ability of a client to believe in your capability to do a good job and a number of others. However, in the case of shortage of money it's demerit is that it affect your confidence, composure and the ability to deliver on business or any form of transaction. Shortage of money does not transfer or equate to unsatisfactory job. It is often said that consistent try is the ability to aiming for perfection. It can be argued that the need for improvement in very necessary if you aim to grow from unsatisfactory job. It is better to try and improve such situations rather than allowing such horrible situation to define your person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response gives a clear preference for trying to improve a bad situation, especially in the final sentence, and it mentions both unsatisfactory work and a shortage of money. However, it does not adequately discuss the view that people may accept difficult circumstances, so a central part of the task is largely missing. The discussion of improvement is also brief and general: “consistent try” is linked to aiming for perfection, but no specific reasons or examples explain how someone might improve a job or financial situation. The response contains 238 words, below the required 250; 21 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the answer, explain both viewpoints and support your opinion with relevant examples and fuller reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is some progression from introducing the topic, to discussing disadvantages, and finally stating a preference for improvement. Linking expressions such as “However” and “It is often said” also show an attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the response has no clear paragraphing, and the sequence of points is difficult to follow: it moves between job quality and money without establishing a clear comparison or developing either line of argument. Several sentences repeat “inadequate funds” or “unsatisfactory job,” while “The both situations and it's merit and demerit” does not clearly connect to the surrounding ideas. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion; use references and transitions that make each relationship between ideas explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “shortage of money,” “inadequate funds,” “confidence,” “composure,” and “retaining a client.” These choices show an attempt to discuss work and financial circumstances rather than relying entirely on very basic language. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning unclear. For example, “poo job” appears to be a spelling error, “consistent try” is not a natural phrase, and “impressed job” does not clearly express the intended idea. There are also spelling errors such as “Consiquently,” “varing,” and “alot.” Build accuracy by learning common collocations and checking spelling, word forms, and whether each phrase conveys the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a perfect job that failed” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but grammatical errors are frequent and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “it is important we look” (missing “that”), “The both situations and it's merit and demerit” (incomplete sentence and faulty agreement), and “it affect your confidence” (subject–verb agreement). Apostrophes are also misused in “it's context” and “it's demerit,” where possessive “its” is needed. Work first on complete sentence construction, subject–verb agreement, articles, and possessives; then check punctuation and vary sentence patterns while keeping them accurate.
