Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few people thinks that the poor employment and less amount of cash in the harder situation is best and others believe that it is good to try for new better opportunities and improve the situation. My opinion is with most of the people that encourage to find new better employment for better situations.

Some of the people agrees to stay in the bad circumstances as they are in the comfort zone, and they do not want to end this comfort zone by doing any business or job. I believe that these type of persons are just an foolish and ashamed for the society, the article by an african journalist elaborate that type of people who are just fond of staying unemployed and do nothing for them and their family always stay in the crisis.

On the other hand, the individuals looking for an opportunity and try to get a job or start a business is much more better. These persons have the courage to face any type of failures and bad conditions as they have no arguments, they try again and again and destroy every bad situation by hardworking. They set some goal to their life and to achive that goal they do more than enough work and got success and achive their goals.

In conclusion, the persons with goal and have encouragement to achive that goal will got successful after too much hardwork and I believe that there is no failure and unemployment for that type of courageous people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding why people stay in bad situations are somewhat superficial, relying on generalizations rather than nuanced analysis. The second body paragraph attempts to explain why taking action is better, but the reasoning is repetitive and lacks specific examples or logical depth. While the task is addressed, the ideas are not fully extended, and the tone is occasionally overly critical (e.g., calling people 'foolish and ashamed'), which detracts from the academic nature of the discussion. To improve, focus on providing more balanced, objective reasoning for both perspectives.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'these type of persons' and 'that type of people' are used repetitively, and transitions like 'on the other hand' are used correctly but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas feels somewhat circular, particularly in the conclusion, which restates the introduction without adding new synthesis. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There is a reliance on basic phrasing such as 'bad situation', 'better opportunities', and 'do nothing'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'less amount of cash' instead of 'financial hardship' or 'shortage of funds', and 'ashamed for the society' which is not a standard collocation. The repetition of phrases like 'achive their goals' and 'bad situation' indicates a lack of lexical range. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, and avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'Few people thinks' and 'Some of the people agrees'. There are also errors with articles ('an african journalist', 'an foolish') and sentence structure, such as 'the individuals looking for an opportunity and try to get a job... is much more better'. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or compound sentences with errors in tense and word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct grammatical markers.
