Student answer (Band 6.5)

Issues related to money are frequently discussed nowadays are growing concerns are becoming heated question the among people that a few people believe that it is best to agree a bad situation, such us an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money.

As far as the matter is concerned i would like to stamp that self Firstly, there are valid reasons why some people choose to accept bad situations. Accepting unfavorable conditions can sometimes be a practical approach to maintain stability and avoid unnecessary stress. For instance, a recent graduate might take up a low-paying job to gain experience rather than holding out for an ideal position. This pragmatic approach can ensure that they remain employed and gradually build their skills and resume. Another example is someone born into a financially struggling family. By accepting their situation, they might focus on cherishing family moments rather than being consumed by unrealistic dreams, which can lead to dissatisfaction and irrational decisions.

However, I strongly support the perspective that even in the worst situations, efforts should be made to improve one's circumstances. Facing challenges head-on can be a valuable learning experience and foster personal development. For example, a family experiencing financial difficulties could tighten their budget, seek additional income sources, or enhance their financial management skills. Furthermore, striving to overcome hardships can lead to significant achievements and personal growth. Consider Elon Musk and Tesla: despite numerous setbacks and failures, Musk's relentless effort turned Tesla into one of the best-selling car brands in the world. This exemplifies how perseverance and a proactive attitude can lead to remarkable success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the graduate taking a low-paying job and the reference to Elon Musk. However, the introduction is quite weak and contains significant grammatical confusion, which slightly obscures the initial presentation of the topic. While the arguments are well-developed, the essay could benefit from a more cohesive conclusion to summarize the position more effectively. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, the opening paragraph is disjointed and lacks logical flow due to poor sentence construction, which makes the initial transition into the body paragraphs slightly jarring. While the progression of ideas within the body paragraphs is logical, the overall cohesion is hampered by the lack of a concluding paragraph, which is a standard expectation for this task type.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated phrasing like 'pragmatic approach' and 'relentless effort'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'stamp that self' and 'agree a bad situation' (instead of 'accept'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the range and precision of the language. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using collocations more accurately and avoiding repetitive or misused phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While there are some successful complex sentences, the writing is marred by frequent grammatical errors, particularly in the introduction, where sentence boundaries are unclear and syntax is confused (e.g., 'Issues related to money are frequently discussed nowadays are growing concerns...'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. Improving control over sentence structure and punctuation will be essential for achieving a higher score.
