IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Well now we will compare and discuss people opinions.
first group of people say it normal to live with an acceptance of no work or no money beacause the believed that this is their destiny and nothing is going to be better in their lives. These sort of people follow the same path but dont think to change it and make a difference.
Second group of people are more interesting in making a change in their lives by thinking high .They dont stay at one place however they find opportunities and pathways that make their lives more reliable . they work hard find betterment in every wats seek guidance moreover they work hard and fulfill their dreams .
IN my opinion second group of people are farther more good then the first because they have potential to deal their thoughts into reality moreover they dont scare from difficulties argument and their focus is only on success.
I admire them because they dont get upset or think that failure means stop putting efforts they try and try until they succeed and fulfill their goals.
In the society where we lived,it is major drawback that by facing crisis and difficulties everyone stop making a change thats why there is lack of education and opportunities because no one is ready to take a stand for nation ,i think as a youth it is our responsibility to take motive for country from starting by ourselves because a little change leads to succses for sure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion, which is a requirement of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the discussion on 'destiny' and 'taking a stand for the nation' is quite general and lacks the depth expected for a Band 7 or higher. The response covers the prompt, but the ideas remain at a surface level, and the conclusion shifts focus toward national responsibility rather than fully synthesizing the initial arguments about personal life situations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disjointed. The transition between the two viewpoints and the personal opinion is abrupt. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'moreover' and 'that's why', they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear progression of ideas. The sentences often feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument, which hinders the overall readability and logical development of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. The student relies on basic phrasing, such as 'good', 'hard', and 'try and try'. There are instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'farther more good' instead of 'far better' and 'deal their thoughts into reality' instead of 'turn their thoughts into reality'. The range is sufficient to communicate the basic message, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. Spelling errors, such as 'wats' for 'ways' and 'succses' for 'success', also occur.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'second group of people are' and 'everyone stop making'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization (e.g., 'IN my opinion'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes causes some difficulty for the reader and prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
