Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The arguments are often vague, such as the mention of 'doctors and engineers' without a clear link to the prompt's focus on accepting versus improving a bad situation. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the preceding arguments. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and specific, logical examples, which limits the overall impact of the response. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained argument with a clear connection to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'just as like we can do' or 'just accepting the bad situation and go further is a best key'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the example of job seekers and the general statement about money is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would significantly enhance the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'more stronger', 'encourage able', and 'well graduated students'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. While the student attempts to use some topic-related vocabulary, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic structures prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on simple, often misused, adjectives and verbs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('other says', 'can makes us'), incorrect verb forms ('can learned', 'can improved'), and sentence structure issues. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent and occur throughout the text. The range of grammatical structures is limited, with a heavy reliance on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and auxiliary verb usage is essential.
