Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument for accepting a bad situation is presented as a list of points rather than a cohesive argument, and the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. While the prompt is addressed, the lack of a fully formed conclusion and the limited depth in the body paragraphs prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure that each point is supported by a clear explanation or example, and always complete your final paragraph to provide a sense of closure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to structure the response. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed. The paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending of the essay significantly impacts the overall coherence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical, and the lack of a finished conclusion makes the overall structure feel incomplete. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring a logical, finished structure will help raise this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'challanging', 'resposne', 'espacially', 'Furthurmore', and 'fitghing'. The word choice is often repetitive, and some collocations are unnatural, such as 'prepare a mental model'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent spelling mistakes and limited vocabulary variety restrict the score. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and proofreading your work to catch common spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'Some says' (subject-verb agreement), 'it help you' (subject-verb agreement), 'you will not stopped' (passive voice error), and 'keep yourself in bettlefiled' (inappropriate phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tense usage, and ensuring that complex sentence structures are grammatically sound.
