Student answer (Band 7.0)
In life, unexpected events happen without giving an alarm. Life is unpredictable, it's a journey with lots of ups and downs. Some people believe that we should accept bad situations without any complain, and some believe that failure gives you both lesson and opportunity to try again and improve your worsen situation, without just sit down and let things happen. I strongly agree that we must try hard to achieve our goals even we are getting lots of bad circumstances in the journey.
Firstly, sometimes situations get out of your control and you don't have enough courage and patience to bear. But this is the time from where your journey towards success starts. For instance, a student that comes from a poor family, tolerated a lot of financial crisis and family pressure throughout his student life. He will definitely not accept his poverty as a destiny, but will try hard to improve his financial situation.
What's more, it's a tremendous stupidity to accept failure and stop working hard. Those who don't want to improve their situations, god does not change their circumstances also. For instance, the beggars keep begging instead of improving their thoughts and lifestyles. Their status remain same throughout the life just because they accept their failure and stop moving forward. We should work hard and try our best to make our situations better.
In contrast, it is better to accept a bad situation when your money, time, age and assets are declining. It does not mean to quit, but you can start in different field where you think the results would be worthy. For instance, a medical entrance test aspirant should quit after two to three failure instead of just wasting time and taking depression. Because may be this would not be his cup of tea and he is best suited for another profession.
All things considered, even you can change the world with hard work and right direction. We always try, try and try again and just skip, in case, you are realizing that these things would not be fruitful and putting efforts on other field is worthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the example of the student overcoming poverty and the medical aspirant knowing when to pivot. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'beggars' is a bit simplistic and lacks nuance, and the conclusion is slightly disjointed, as it introduces a new idea about 'changing the world' that wasn't fully explored. Overall, the position is consistent, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band by providing more sophisticated reasoning for the 'acceptance' viewpoint.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'What's more', and 'In contrast', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'this is the time from where your journey... starts'). The paragraphing is appropriate, but the final paragraph feels slightly rushed and lacks a strong concluding statement that synthesizes the two viewpoints effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'tremendous stupidity' and 'financial crisis'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'worsen situation' (worsening), 'without any complain' (complaint), and 'status remain same' (remains the same). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of vocabulary to include more academic synonyms would enhance the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('status remain same'), article usage, and prepositional phrases ('on other field'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors that persist throughout the text. Despite these errors, the meaning is almost always clear, and the grammar does not significantly impede the reader's understanding. To improve, the student should focus on refining sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
