Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 101 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed, and the development of ideas is severely limited. While the introduction mentions both perspectives and states an opinion, the body paragraph fails to discuss the opposing view or provide a balanced argument. The content is too brief to meet the requirements for a full essay, leading to a failure to develop the topic adequately. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you cover all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction, the transition to the body paragraph is abrupt. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the overall structure is incomplete. To achieve a higher score, you need to organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs—an introduction, at least two body paragraphs, and a conclusion—using a wider range of linking words to connect your thoughts logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is functional but basic. Phrases like 'bad situations' and 'numerous problems' are repetitive and lack the precision expected at higher levels. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on using more varied and precise vocabulary to describe complex situations, such as 'adversity' or 'mitigate', rather than relying on simple, repetitive descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'There are number of problems arrived in life which no one cannot be accepted' is syntactically confusing and contains a double negative error. The sentence structure is generally simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice. Practice constructing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
