Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that it is the best way to accept a bad situation as unsatisfactory job or shortage of money, while others opine that it is better way to improve such conditions. I will discuss both the view in the following paragraphs and give my opinion at the end.

On the one hand, those who believe that accepting a situation can sometimes be a practical choice. This is because they have limited opportunities as specially in period of uncertainty. For example, A person living in an area with few employment opportunities may decide to keep a low-paying job because it provides a stable income for their family. Furthermore, accepting reality may help reduce stress and anxiety. Instead of constantly worrying about problems that cannot be changed immediately, people can focus on maintaining emotional stability and making the best of their current circumstances.

On the other hand, trying to improve can leads to a better quality of life. Individuals who actively seek better opportunities are more likely to achieve career success and financial security. They can learn a new skills, gaining the experience or continuing their education have the better employment. Overcoming the challenges have build the confidence and personal growth. For instance, many people study in the evenings while working full-time, allowing them to qualify for higher-paying jobs in the future.

In conclusion, although accepting a difficult situation can sometimes provide stability and reduce unnecessary stress, I believe people should try to improve their circumstances whenever possible. With determination, education and hard work, individuals often achieve a better career, greater financial security and a more satisfying life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the example of working full-time while studying to improve one's situation. However, some arguments could be further extended to reach a higher band. For instance, the discussion on 'accepting a situation' is somewhat brief. The position is consistent throughout, and the essay maintains a clear focus on the topic. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more in-depth exploration of the underlying reasons for each viewpoint.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated to enhance the overall coherence. The progression of ideas is logical, and the referencing is clear throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'financial security,' 'emotional stability,' and 'uncertainty.' However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'opine that it is better way' (should be 'a better way') and 'learn a new skills' (should be 'learn new skills'). The range is adequate for the task, but the use of less common lexical items is somewhat limited. Expanding your range of collocations and idiomatic expressions would help elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist, such as 'trying to improve can leads to' (should be 'can lead to') and 'Overcoming the challenges have build' (should be 'has built'). Additionally, there are minor issues with articles and pluralization, such as 'as specially in period of uncertainty.' Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the reader can follow the argument without difficulty. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences would improve the score.
