IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this growing Economical world bad situation like financial instability is common with every people, some people accept the situation and live with these problem for rest of their life and some try to improve it bit by bit. Both views are discussed below.
The first one are those who accepts the situation and live with it rather they give up on improving. These people blame government for such bad condition like unsatisfactory job or the money problem as they believe it is their job to provide good services to them. These people can not afford to live comfortably with their family often doing two jobs to sustain their situation.
From their perspective cities should me more affordable and good job opportunities should be priority doing so improves their conditions on their own.
On the other side there are people who do not want to rely on anyone and keep on improving their financial condition. These people think that if their condition is not good they should be more creative in saving money and using it effectively they are more optimistic in these situations believing if they work hard enough someday thier raft will cross the ocean.
In my opinion people who argue that they should try to improve their condition are one hundred percent right giving up on the situation is far worse than not even trying to improve it.
In the end I would like to conclude that yes Economical reasons has made people helpless to get good jobs and make money problem for away but not trying to improve it makes the situation even worse.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments for both sides are somewhat superficial and lack specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the discussion on why people accept bad situations is quite brief and relies on generalisations about government responsibility. The conclusion is also repetitive and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' behind these perspectives, providing more detailed reasoning for each position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, the transition 'The first one are those' is grammatically awkward and lacks a clear link to the previous sentence. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and some sentences feel disconnected. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider range of cohesive devices (such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast') would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'Economical world' instead of 'economic world' and 'make money problem for away' which is unclear. The range of vocabulary is limited, with frequent repetition of basic terms like 'situation', 'condition', and 'improve'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The first one are those'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'cities should me more affordable'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
