Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks to discuss both views, the essay only provides a very brief and underdeveloped argument for one side. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, and the discussion of the 'former' view is almost entirely absent. Consequently, the response is underdeveloped and fails to address all parts of the task effectively. To improve, you must ensure each viewpoint is supported by clear examples and explanations, and you must complete the essay within the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Firstly', and 'Secondly', but the overall progression is hindered by the lack of content and the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between ideas is weak due to the brevity of the arguments. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is mechanical. To improve, focus on developing each paragraph with a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence and a concluding thought, ensuring that the essay structure remains intact until the very end.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'bad situation', 'better future', and 'shortage of money' are used repeatedly, indicating a lack of range. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'forthcoming fragment' and 'latter point of view', which sound unnatural in this context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary. Focus on learning collocations related to problem-solving and professional development to express your ideas more naturally and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other think'), article usage (e.g., 'best way'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'to explain it that people accept their conditions then people do not worrying'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around punctuation marks. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect prepositions.
