Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. The position is somewhat clear, but the supporting points are underdeveloped and rely on generalizations rather than specific examples or logical progression. To improve, you must expand your arguments with concrete explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction and body paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes incorrect way, such as the repetitive use of 'If' to start sentences. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logic within the paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'however' would help create a smoother transition between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'bad situation' and 'good' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'smart brain' and 'business related topic', which sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations that fit the academic context of the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people thinks', 'Others argues') and incorrect verb forms ('people with hard working... will don't accept'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and refining your control over complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
