Student answer (Band 6.0)

A person has to deal with a lot of unwanted situations like unhappy work place or lack of finance throughout the journey of life. While some argue that to take those situations as it is could be the best way, other opine that one must work hard to overcome such events. This essay will discuss the above mentioned points and give my favorable opinion in the conclusion.

On the one hand, acceptance is an important skill to have as a human because it teaches to be calm and selfless. This means that when an individual have the ability to accept any bad situation he/she gets courage to fight against it and find a solution. To cite an example, parents do not believe when teachers complain about the miss-behavior of their child with peers. They often refuse to agree that their kid can be mischievous, consequently this will encourage the adolescent to act inappropriately. Hence, if a person cannot accept their mistakes, they will lose the opportunity to correct and improve themselves.

On the other hand, an individual should put efforts to enhance one-self rather then sitting in disappointment. Every tough moment can be turned into a moment of immense joy if considerate amount of efforts are made. For example, a student from an Academy of English Language, after getting scores less than required for admission in foreign university gave three more attempts and got a band 8 out of 9. Thus, if one wishes to fulfill ambitions of life they must keep on trying until they reach their destination instead of giving up and accepting what they have.

To conclude, what I feel is that both the factors are of equally important to live a satisfactory life because as it is said "Acceptance is key to second chance", which means to uplift living standards one must keep on try and it comes for accepting the failure

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument for 'acceptance' is slightly confused; the example provided regarding parents and children's behavior does not clearly link to the prompt's focus on 'bad situations' like financial hardship or job dissatisfaction. The second body paragraph is more relevant, providing a clear example of overcoming failure. To reach a higher band, ensure that every example directly supports the specific topic of the prompt. The conclusion is a bit vague and struggles to synthesize the two viewpoints effectively, as the quote used is somewhat ambiguous in this context.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'consequently this will encourage' and 'what I feel is that'. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences within the first body paragraph could be smoother to improve the flow of the argument. Overall, the structure is functional and supports the development of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'mischievous' and 'ambitions', but there are also instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'lack of finance' instead of 'financial hardship' or 'unhappy work place' instead of 'unsatisfactory job'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'give my favorable opinion'. While the range is sufficient to communicate, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('an individual have', 'both the factors are of equally important') and awkward phrasing ('rather then sitting', 'keep on try'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor slips that occur throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band, which requires more frequent error-free sentences and better control over complex structures.
