Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely believed that, an acceptance of any unfavorable circumstance is a great way to deal with the situation. For instance, unsatisfactory occupations or running out of money. However, others are of the view that trying to enhance the condition can assist you in the long run; whereas, I am of the view that none of them solely can solve the issue. Everyone in this world has their own methods to tackle any crisis with which they are comfortable. This essay will elucidate both arguments and it depends on the individual's choice.

A substantial number of citizens believe that if there is an unexpected circumstance or any imposed issue, the ideal is to accept it and do nothing about it. This way can lead us to no consequence and will be stuck in that issue for forever. A case in point is an involuntary profession that can result in; us being melancholic. As we are forced to perform a variety of tasks, this will not provide us prosperity in life. In a nutshell, we will face a shortage of money and we will be down in the dumps.

Contrarily, a vast number of people argue that an exemplary way is to burn the midnight oil and to improve your condition. It can provide you a sense of security as you are not indifferent regarding the circumstance. To illustrate, a person who is not satisfied with his employment, it is the best method to find a job that will provide him with peace of mind and profound happiness.

From my perspective, not only approval concerning some situations but also attempting to modify the condition is an excellent method of dealing with any issue. The first step to tackle a crisis is to accept it; however, a vast number of citizens are in denial. Then diligently figuring out an issue is best.

To conclude, both debates are fathomable and they can facilitate you in the best possible way to improve the problem.

The level of brainstorming is required to handle the circumstance is dependent on a person's ability.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed both views and provided a clear personal position. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat inconsistent. In the second paragraph, you argue that accepting a situation leads to 'no consequence' and being 'stuck', which is a valid point, but the explanation is slightly repetitive. The third paragraph regarding improving one's situation is better developed, though it could benefit from more specific examples beyond just changing jobs. Your conclusion attempts to synthesize both views, which is a good approach, but ensure that your arguments are fully supported throughout the body paragraphs to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For instance', and 'To illustrate'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'In a nutshell' used to summarize a point about unhappiness, which is not the standard usage of that idiom. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack smooth connectivity, such as the final sentence of the essay, which feels disconnected from the preceding paragraph. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary, including some idiomatic expressions like 'burn the midnight oil' and 'down in the dumps'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'approval concerning some situations' is not a natural collocation, and 'elucidate both arguments' is slightly formal for the context. Some vocabulary is used repetitively, such as 'circumstance' and 'issue'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that collocations sound natural to a native speaker.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and sentence boundaries. For instance, 'For instance, unsatisfactory occupations or running out of money' is a sentence fragment. You also have issues with comma usage, such as 'It is widely believed that, an acceptance...', where the comma is unnecessary. There are also minor errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score.
