Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 171 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting examples or depth. While the essay attempts to address both views and mentions a personal stance, the lack of length means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples, personal experiences, or logical consequences to ensure a more thorough discussion of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by a lack of cohesive devices. Many sentences are joined awkwardly or lack necessary punctuation, such as the run-on sentences in the introduction and the second paragraph. Transitions like 'Furthermore' and 'On the other hand' are used, but the overall progression of ideas feels mechanical and disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'bad situation' are used repeatedly, and there are errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'in the favor of' (should be 'in favor of') and 'logical problem solving' (should be 'logically solve problems'). The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You should aim to use more academic collocations and synonyms to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it reduce', 'it can also gives'), missing articles, and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as the run-on sentence in the introduction. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and using correct punctuation to separate independent clauses.
