Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years many people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation. It is often argued that it is better to try and improve such situations. This essay will discussed both perspectives, before explaining why I believe that try to improve more options and it availed them.

On the one hand, many people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation such as unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. This is mainly because, in recent years there is so poverty and people facing unemployment opportunities in the whole world. Furthermore, many people facing difficulties due to shortage of money and unsatisfactory job because there have no other opportunities. For example, in many organizations, people have facing threats, abusing and different kind of mental torching but they still continuing to their job for the survival of only kids and protect to their families.

On the other hand, other argued that it is better to try and improve more options and then availed them because good opportunities will be best for the future and you continuing their job and there will be facing no problem.

In my perspective, always should better to try more opportunities as compared to faced difficulties because respect is more important in every aspect of life. Where there is no respect do not go to their place. Money does not matter at that place where there is no respect.

To conclude, both arguments are valid however, I strongly believe to improve more opportunities, as it provides more advantages for individuals and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding why people accept bad situations (poverty, survival) are relevant but lack depth. The counter-argument advocating for improvement is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or logical progression. The essay tends to over-generalize, and the reasoning is sometimes repetitive. To reach a higher band, you need to extend your ideas with more detailed explanations and concrete examples rather than simply stating them. The conclusion is present but brief.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'and then availed them' is confusing and does not logically connect to the previous clause. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'do not go to their place,' which makes the flow of ideas disjointed. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of conjunctions hinder the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'mental torching' (likely meaning 'mental torture') and 'unemployment opportunities' (which is contradictory). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word choice prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to improve your range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other argued,' 'people have facing'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Some sentences are structurally incomplete or confusing, such as 'This essay will discussed both perspectives.' These errors are frequent and occasionally cause the reader to pause, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency.
