Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear due to significant language errors. For example, the explanation of why people might accept a bad situation is confusing, as the text states they 'do not stop' and 'do nothing else,' which contradicts the premise of acceptance. The arguments lack depth and logical progression, making it difficult for the reader to follow the reasoning. To improve, you should focus on clearly articulating your points with specific examples and ensuring your position is consistently maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion,' but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that does not link ideas smoothly. For instance, the transition 'For insurances' is used where 'For instance' was intended, and the connection between sentences is often disjointed. The overall progression of ideas is difficult to follow, which impacts the coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'for insurances' instead of 'for instance' and 'give one more try' instead of 'persevere.' Some phrases are unintelligible, such as 'A better and implementation did develop.' To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context. Avoid repeating the same basic words and try to incorporate more precise terminology related to the topic of career and personal development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people believe better way accept'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty and unclear (e.g., 'A better and implementation did develop and do the hard work that thing'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex structures.
