Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but it is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement. This negatively impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting examples. The arguments provided, such as the idea that facing hardships builds maturity, are relevant but are not fully explored. Furthermore, the conclusion is somewhat vague and does not clearly articulate a strong, well-reasoned position. Because the essay is under-length and the ideas are underdeveloped, it fails to meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'ahead of my opinion' or 'in the favour of letter opinion'. The progression of ideas is sometimes interrupted by unclear phrasing, making the flow feel disjointed. While there is an attempt to use transition signals, they are not always used accurately or naturally. The overall logical flow is present but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'arguement', 'haazardous', and 'abletotackle'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use more precise or academic terminology. Phrases like 'push such situations' are unnatural in this context. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning collocations and expanding their range of academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('individual should go', 'I certainly believes'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures. The range of structures is limited, with a reliance on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final paragraph. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
