Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate about whether it id better to accept current situation even if it's an unsatisfactory job or insufficient source of income, while others contend that people should work on changing or improving these circumstances. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
On the one hand, those who support the former view argue that they are insecure of potential risks involved in trying to change their present situation. In other words, they are afraid it might end up in worst scenario where they would lose employment and face financial difficulties. This is particularly evident among people from middle class backgrounds who do not have another source of income as a backup. Thus, they prefer to stick to their current profession even if it does not reflect their interests or provides low remuneration. Therefore, a considerable number of individuals prefer to accept current situation.
Conversely, proponents of the opposing view maintain that such situations must be either improved or changed for their career growth. Instead of doing an unsatisfactory job with low wages, they prefer to work on their skills development and try to find better occupations to overcome financial issues. An Indian city, Mumbai, which is often called as a city of dreams, can be takes as an example where people from all over the country leave their hometowns and jobs to follow their ambition. As a result, many of them secure a successful career in their own field. Hence, the supporters of this view strongly believe in changing their current situations.
In my opinion, I also agree with the latter view as following your passion would possibly lead to a job satisfaction. Working hard and having no fear would give people a sense of accomplishment, which would bring a lot of happiness in their lives.
Having examined both views carefully, I believe that although accepting current scenarios would secure people's current employment, taking risks by trying to improve these situations would lead to more substantial long-term benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the explanation of why some people fear change and the counter-argument regarding career growth. However, the development of the personal opinion in the fourth paragraph is somewhat brief and could have been expanded with more specific reasoning or examples to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while reinforcing the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the transition between paragraphs is smooth, using cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Conversely', and 'Having examined'. While the use of linking words is generally effective, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different stages of the argument. Overall, the flow of information is easy to follow, and the relationship between ideas is clearly established throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some flexibility. There is an attempt to use less common items such as 'remuneration', 'proponents', and 'substantial'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'insecure of potential risks' (should be 'insecure about') and 'can be takes as an example' (should be 'taken'). These errors do not impede communication but prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, though it lacks the sophistication required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it id better' (typo), 'accept current situation' (missing article), and 'which would bring a lot of happiness in their lives' (slightly awkward phrasing). While the meaning remains clear, these errors occur with some frequency. The control of complex structures is evident, but the accuracy is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on article usage and subject-verb agreement, as well as proofreading for minor slips that detract from the overall quality of the writing.
