IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals believe that it won't be bad to accept worst situations, like a unsatisfying job or shortage of money. While others criticize that it is better to progress more and bring improvement to such situations. After discussing both debates I will explain why I support the second argument.
Some times people often chose to live in a situation which is not much comfortable or be in a job which is not satisfactory, this situation is acceptable if a person is facing hardships while finding his/her dream job even if he/she is out finances. Although this situation is acceptable in some conditions but according to the critics it should never stay the same and the person should always try to improve the situation and overcome all the hurdles and barriers he/she is facing.
Unfavorable and unsatisfying moments are never meant to stay permanent, we human being are always in a hunger to get more and more. People grind and work hard to get their dreams come true and to leave a unsatisfactory life to progress for a better and shining future. We can see examples of many artist's and entrepreneur's who lived a very uncomfortable life just to make their dreams true, but they never left struggle and hard work, eventually breaking barriers, and improving not just their own lifestyle but also of the people around them.
So, In my opinion, even if someone is in a difficult position, should never leave his/her spirit, as with progressive hard work and consistent struggle he/she will improve any bad situation. We should always think positive and try our best to overcome bad situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that accepting a bad situation can be a temporary necessity, the explanation lacks depth and specific examples. The second viewpoint is better supported with the mention of entrepreneurs and artists, but the argument remains somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed exploration of the 'why' and 'how' behind these perspectives, rather than relying on general statements. The task is fully addressed, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a mid-range band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Although', 'While', and 'So', to link your thoughts. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'Some times people often chose'. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical rather than natural. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between sentences is smoother, which will help the reader follow your argument more effortlessly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary like 'hurdles', 'barriers', and 'entrepreneur'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'out finances' (should be 'out of funds' or 'financial difficulties') and 'hunger to get more' (which is slightly unnatural). There are also some punctuation errors with apostrophes, such as 'artist's and entrepreneur's', which should be plural ('artists and entrepreneurs'). Expanding your range of collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'it won't be bad to accept worst situations' (should be 'worse' or 'bad') and 'even if someone is in a difficult position, should never leave' (missing a subject 'they'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every clause has a clear subject.
