Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The arguments provided, such as the reference to a Harvard study or European businesses, lack depth and appear somewhat generic or invented. While the prompt is addressed, the explanation of why one might choose to accept a bad situation is underdeveloped and lacks a nuanced exploration of the potential benefits of stability or contentment. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed reasoning and specific examples that illustrate the complexities of these choices rather than relying on unsupported statistics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'On the contrary' is used to introduce the second viewpoint, but the subsequent paragraph lacks a smooth flow. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, the phrase 'the business who had taken risk' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical progression. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'getting satisfied with it' instead of 'being satisfied' and 'masive amount of loan' instead of 'massive loans'. Additionally, there is some repetition of basic vocabulary like 'improve' and 'situation'. To improve, you should focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Expanding your range of academic collocations will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Many individual believe', 'Challenges comes'), article usage, and awkward phrasing ('a person... has 90% of chance'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading your work to correct basic errors in pluralisation and verb tense consistency, and practice constructing more complex sentences with accurate punctuation.
